STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., August 17, 2026 — Katrina Manetta, Democratic candidate for Michigan State House in District 58, today announced that her campaign has surpassed $100,000 in total fundraising while refusing contributions from corporate PACs.
The six-figure milestone marks a major benchmark for Manetta, a lifelong Macomb County resident, service worker, and community organizer running against incumbent Republican state Rep. Ron Robinson to bring a fresh generation of practical, community-focused leadership to Lansing.
“Crossing $100,000 is a huge milestone for this campaign, and I’m incredibly grateful to every person who has chosen to support what we’re building,” Manetta said. “We’re proving that you don’t have to belong to the political establishment or depend on corporate interests to build a serious campaign. You can build one by earning people’s trust and giving them something worth believing in.”
Manetta has made reducing the influence of corporate interests in government a central part of her campaign. Meanwhile, Robinson, a sitting state representative and former Utica City Council member, has accepted contributions from corporate-affiliated PACs, including PACs connected to DTE Energy and CMS Energy, the parent company of Consumers Energy, according to Michigan campaign finance records.
“That’s a real difference in this race,” Manetta said. “Working families are paying more for utilities, insurance, groceries, and housing while powerful interests spend money trying to influence the people making the rules. I want the people of this district to know exactly who I work for. It’s them.”
“I know what it feels like to look at your bills and wonder how everything got so expensive,” Manetta said. “I know what it’s like to work hard and still feel like the system is working better for the people and corporations at the top than it is for you. I’m running because it shouldn’t be this way, and because I believe regular people deserve a government that answers to them, not special interests.”
Manetta, a lifelong Macomb County resident, service worker, and community organizer, has built her campaign around lowering costs for working families, strengthening public safety and education, protecting workers’ rights, and delivering practical solutions rooted in local experience.
Michigan’s 58th House District includes parts of Sterling Heights, Warren, Utica and Shelby Township and is widely considered one of the most competitive districts in the state.
