STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., July 31, 2026 — Katrina Manetta, Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 58th State House District, today announced endorsements from the Michigan Nurses Association and Rising Voices.
The endorsements bring together two organizations whose members understand how decisions made in Lansing affect people’s everyday lives, from the quality of care patients receive to whether Asian American and immigrant families have a meaningful voice in their government.
The Michigan Nurses Association represents registered nurses and health care professionals across Michigan. Through its political action committee, the association supports candidates who will listen to frontline health care workers, defend collective bargaining rights, and put patients before corporate interests.
“For me, health care is personal,” Manetta said. “My sister died of cancer after going without insurance and delaying care until it was too late. Nurses see every day what happens when people cannot afford care, when workers are stretched too thin, and when decisions are made without listening to the people at the bedside. Their support means more to me than I can put into words.”
Manetta also said the endorsement reinforces her commitment to making health care more accessible, protecting workers’ freedom to organize, and ensuring that nurses and other frontline professionals have a voice in decisions affecting their workplaces and patients.
Rising Voices organizes and develops leadership within Michigan’s Asian American community, with a particular focus on Asian American women and young people. Its work includes immigrant justice, language access, culturally competent public services, community organizing, and civic engagement.
“Our district’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths,” Manetta said. “Families have come here from across the world, built businesses, raised children, cared for their neighbors, and made Macomb County their home.
They deserve a representative who respects their experiences and understands that everyone should be able to participate fully in the community they helped build, and I am honored that Rising Voices has put their trust in me to be that representative.”

Michigan’s 58th House District includes parts of Sterling Heights, Warren, Utica and Shelby Township and is widely considered one of the most competitive districts in the state. It is also one of Macomb County’s most diverse districts, home to immigrant communities with roots across the Middle East, South Asia, and Eastern Europe.
