STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., May 19, 2026 — Katrina Manetta, Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 58th State House District, today announced that she has signed Move to Amend’s Candidate Pledge, committing to support a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, end unlimited corporate influence in elections, and restore accountability in government.
“Too many people feel like government only works for the wealthy, well-connected, and corporate interests, while working families are left behind,” Manetta said. “I’m running because it shouldn’t be this way.”
Manetta said her support for the pledge builds on her endorsement of the Michiganders for Money Out of Politics ballot initiative and reflects her broader commitment to transparency, accountability, and reducing the influence of special interests in government.
“As a State Representative, I will support legislation and resolutions that move us toward a constitutional amendment to end corporate constitutional rights and allow real limits on campaign spending,” Manetta said. “I believe voters deserve transparency, accountability, and a government that answers to the people who live and work here, not special interests writing checks behind closed doors.”
Move to Amend, a nationwide grassroots coalition formed in 2010 in response to the Citizens United decision, has spent more than a decade organizing to pass the We the People Amendment, a constitutional amendment aimed at ending corporate constitutional rights and restoring democratic accountability. Since its founding, the organization has helped advance hundreds of local and state resolutions supporting the amendment and limiting the influence of big money in politics.
Manetta, a lifelong Macomb County resident and service worker, is running on a platform focused on lowering costs for working families, strengthening public safety and education, protecting workers’ rights, and delivering practical, community-focused solutions.
Michigan’s 58th House District includes parts of Sterling Heights, Warren, Utica and Shelby Township and is widely considered one of the most competitive districts in the state.
