STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., March 13, 2026 — Katrina Manetta released the following statement in response to the attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield:
«I was devastated to hear about the attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield yesterday afternoon. My heart is with the families, children, worshippers, and staff who were there, as well as the entire Jewish community.
No parent should ever have to fear dropping their child off at school or daycare. No one should have to fear for their safety in a house of worship, regardless of how they choose to do so.
This was a blatant act of antisemitic violence, and it has no place in Michigan. I’m deeply grateful to the security staff, first responders, and law enforcement whose quick actions helped prevent an even greater tragedy.
I’m also moved by the way neighbors have stepped up, including the Chaldean community at Shenandoah Country Club, who opened their doors to welcome those affected. That’s who we are at our best.
We stand with our Jewish neighbors today and always. Every family deserves to feel safe, and everyone deserves the freedom to worship without fear.»
