It Shouldn’t Be This Hard to Get Ahead

It's time to send a new generation of leadership to Lansing.

Will You Pitch In?

Why I'm Running

Working Families Are Doing Everything Right and Still Falling Behind

Macomb County families are working hard, playing by the rules, and still struggling to keep up. Costs keep rising. Paychecks are stretched. And too often, government feels disconnected from real life.

Too many politicians are focused on party politics and culture wars instead of the everyday challenges people here face. I believe it doesn’t have to be this way. I’ve been called a lot of things for speaking that truth, but I believe paying attention to what’s happening to working families and refusing to look the other way is exactly what real leadership requires.

I’m running to bring practical leadership, accountability, and common-sense solutions to Lansing so government works for people again.

My Story

From Here. Still Here. Fighting for Us.

Hi, I’m Katrina Manetta. I’m running for Michigan State House because it shouldn’t be this hard to get ahead—and because too many politicians say the right things during campaigns, then protect powerful interests once they’re in office. I’m running to change that.

I was born and raised in Macomb County, and I still live here today. I went to Utica schools, graduated from Oakland University, and this community shaped who I am.
Like a lot of people in the 58th District, I know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. For the last eight years, I’ve worked as a server, balancing bills, rising costs, and the stress of knowing one unexpected expense can throw everything off.

My family’s story is why this work matters to me. My aunt has a mental disability, and my mom has been her full-time caregiver since I was five. I’ve also lived through deep loss—I lost my sister, my dad, and my boyfriend within just a few years. That kind of loss didn’t just harden me. It gave me clarity.

I’m not a political insider. I became a community organizer because I was tired of watching decisions get made about our lives without people like us in the room. I’m running to bring integrity to Lansing and fight for the people of the 58th District who deserve leaders grounded in real life.

If this resonates with you, I hope you’ll be part of this campaign.

What I'll Focus On

Practical Solutions for Real Life

Affordability & Cost of Living

Families should not have to choose between groceries, utilities, and healthcare. I will fight to lower everyday costs, hold monopoly utility companies accountable, protect workers’ rights to bargain for better wages and benefits, and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.

Safe Communities

Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live. I support funding for police, fire, and EMS, expanding mental health response, and strengthening community-based public safety so neighborhoods can thrive and people feel safe walking their streets again.

Healthcare That Works

This is personal for me. Healthcare is a human right, and no one should lose a loved one because they couldn’t afford care. I’ll fight to lower healthcare and prescription drug costs, expand access to mental health services, and protect care for seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, and working families.

Good Government & Real Accountability

People deserve representatives who answer to their community, not party leaders, corporate donors, or special interests. I’m not a political insider, and I refuse to be owned by anyone but the people I represent. I will fight to increase transparency in state government, reduce wasteful spending, and make sure public dollars are used responsibly.

Strong Schools & Job Training

Education should prepare kids for real futures. I support strong public schools, fair pay for educators, affordable college and job training, and pathways into skilled trades that build good lives right here in the 58th District.

Human Dignity & Human Rights

Government should protect our freedom, not interfere in our personal lives. I believe deeply in human dignity, and I will fight hard to protect it. Not quietly, not halfway, and not only when it’s politically convenient.

Infrastructure That Lasts

Fixing roads means fixing them right. I will fight for smart investments in roads, water systems, and sewers that save taxpayer money over time while protecting our air, water, and other natural resources.

Environment, Clean Energy & Smart Growth

We can protect our Great Lakes and natural resources while creating good-paying jobs, but growth has to put communities first. I support clean energy and responsible development, and I will push back on unchecked projects like massive data centers that strain water, energy, and local infrastructure.

How I Lead

Accountability. Integrity. Results.

I believe government should serve people, not political parties, corporate donors, or wealthy insiders. I believe in working across the aisle when it delivers results and standing firm when working families are at risk of being left behind.

I support basic freedoms, religious liberty, and civil rights, and believe everyone should feel safe, respected, and welcome in their community. Leadership means showing up, telling the truth, and doing the job.
