STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., April 24, 2026 — Tabu Gantt II today announced his endorsement of Katrina Manetta for State Representative in Michigan’s 58th State House District, suspending his own campaign and joining Manetta’s team as Senior Policy Director.
Working families in HD-58 deserve a representative who will fight for their interests when it comes to healthcare costs, housing stability, reducing energy bills, and economic security. Both Manetta and Gantt entered this race because they believed, and still believe, that HD-58 deserves better, and that the Democratic Party has an obligation to show up with clear answers. This endorsement reflects a unified Democratic effort to take back HD-58 and deliver results for the families who live here.
Katrina Manetta, a lifelong Shelby Township resident and community leader, has spent the past year building a new volunteer infrastructure on the ground in Macomb County. As co-founder of Macomb Defenders Rising, she has experience organizing thousands of residents in Macomb County around the issues that matter most to working families. Her grassroots network represents exactly the kind of civic engagement we need to win in November.

Tabu Gantt II is a robotics service technician and Sterling Heights resident who studied mechanical engineering at Kettering University. Gantt withdrew his candidacy from the Democratic primary and endorsed Manetta.

Shared Policy Priorities
The campaign will fight to lower costs for Michigan families, including ratepayer protections that keep utility and energy costs from being shifted onto working households, expanding access to affordable healthcare, ending surprise medical billing, and lowering prescription drug costs through state bulk purchasing.
