STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., August 24, 2026 — Katrina Manetta, Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 58th State House District, today announced the endorsement of the Young Democrats of Michigan in her campaign to bring a fresh generation of leadership to Lansing.
Young Democrats of Michigan is the official youth arm of the Michigan Democratic Party and a chapter of Young Democrats of America. In announcing its endorsement, the organization said it was “proud to endorse Katrina Manetta for State Representative in HD 58.”
For Manetta, the endorsement reflects growing support for a campaign built around the idea that Michigan needs a new generation of leaders who understand the pressures working people are facing and are prepared to focus on solving them.
“I’m grateful to have the support of the Young Democrats of Michigan because this race is about what kind of future we’re building here,” Manetta said. “For too many young people and working families, it has gotten harder to afford a home, pay the bills, raise a family, or simply feel like you’re getting ahead. We need leaders who understand that reality firsthand and who are willing to do the work to change it.”
Manetta continued, “I didn’t come up through the political establishment. I’m a service worker and community organizer who grew up here, still lives here, and knows what it feels like when the systems that are supposed to work for people fall short. I’m running to bring that perspective to Lansing and make government work better for the people who actually live with the consequences of the decisions being made there.”
The endorsement adds to a broad coalition backing Manetta’s campaign, including labor unions, healthcare advocates, environmental organizations, grassroots groups, community leaders, and Democratic organizations from across Michigan.
Manetta, a lifelong Macomb County resident, service worker, and community organizer, has built her campaign around lowering costs for working families, strengthening public safety and education, protecting workers’ rights, and delivering practical solutions rooted in local experience.
Michigan’s 58th House District includes parts of Sterling Heights, Warren, Utica and Shelby Township and is widely considered one of the most competitive districts in the state.
