STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., May 6, 2026 — Katrina Manetta, Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 58th State House district, today announced her endorsement of the Michiganders for Money Out of Politics ballot initiative, a statewide effort focused on increasing transparency and reducing the influence of corporate money in Michigan politics.
Manetta, who is running a grassroots campaign without corporate PAC money, said the initiative reflects growing frustration among everyday Michiganders who feel shut out of a political system dominated by wealthy special interests and insider politics.
“People in Macomb County are tired of feeling like powerful corporations and political insiders have a louder voice than everyday people,” Manetta said. “That’s exactly why I’m not accepting corporate PAC donations to my campaign, and why I’m so proud to support Michiganders for Money Out of Politics. Government should answer to the people it is elected to represent, not special interests and billionaires with deep pockets. Michigan voters deserve transparency, accountability, and leaders who put their constituents first.”
The proposed ballot initiative seeks to strengthen transparency requirements around political spending and increase public accountability in Michigan elections.
Manetta, a lifelong Macomb County resident and community organizer, said the issue resonates across party lines in a district where voters are increasingly frustrated with political dysfunction and the influence of money in government and elections.
“This is not a partisan issue,” Manetta continued. “Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or independent, most people agree that everyday voters should matter more than corporate donors and political insiders. We need a government people can actually trust again.”
Manetta is running for Michigan’s 58th State House district on a platform focused on affordability, government accountability, public safety, infrastructure, and supporting working people across Macomb County.
Michigan’s 58th House District includes parts of Sterling Heights, Warren, Utica and Shelby Township and is widely considered one of the most competitive districts in the state.
